This team is playing like we all knew they were capable of playing. Ever since Alvarez went down we really struggled with automatic outs like Narvaez who just fell off a cliff somehow in the lineup. Alavarez is improtsnt defensively but also provides a crucial bat to lengthen the lineup which should only get better in the near future. It didn’t help that we had guys out like Senga & Megill too along with Diaz struggling. We could easily have turned at least 10 of our losses into wins if we had a healthy bullpen. Anyway, let’s hope the hot streak continues. The Mets better extend homegrown slugger Pete Alonso who is the face of the franchise & a leader. You trade 39 year old pitchers like Scherzer for prospects not homegrown sluggers in their prime. This team almost signed Carlos Correa to a 12 year deal! If they don’t extend Alonso who isn’t even asking them to break the bank then it will truly say they don’t have a plan or idea of how to run things. Trading Alonso would alienate Mets fans & go down in history as another one of the Mets’ colossal gaffes like trading Nolan Ryan & Tom Seaver. I mean in the past few years the Mets have let Zack Wheeler, Seth Lugo, Chris Bassitt, Taijuan Walker, & Marcus Stroman walk. That’s a pretty good rotation & while it stung letting go of now injury prone Jacob DeGrom was the right move. Wheeler, Lugo & Bassitt were terrible decisions.🤯🫤🤬. We added some exciting young prospects last year & are in decent shape. We can’t have a boatload of prospects & more holes on the major league roster. With a few additions to the rotation & bullpen we could be a strong contender again. Hell, if some young players arrive & contribute like Acuna & Christian Scott, we could be in alright shape. We can’t keep a team culture & chemistry if there is constant turnover & change - continuity & familiarity matter. You Gotta Believe! Let’s Go Mets!
